HiProFile has a dual mission, which is to service companies
with a cost-effective vehicle for senior-level
recruiting while providing the senior executive
with an effective and proactive marketing device.
The Nature of the Business
HiProFile places senior-level
executives in positions within New England as
well as nationally and internationally. We work
with large multinational corporations as well
as smaller firms. All of the companies we work
with share one goal: they want to recruit senior
human capital in a cost-effective and totally
confidential manner.
Confidentiality is also vital to our candidates,
many of whom are currently working. HiProFile Candidates are never initially presented by name
to companies. Once placed, the identity of the
successful Candidate remains strictly confidential.
Principals
John Shaffer — President
and CEO:
John Shaffer’s background includes a mix
of sales and operations expertise in manpower
development, placement, and executive training.
He has held senior positions in both for-profit
and not-for-profit environments, working with
major universities, consulting firms, and governmental
organizations worldwide.
John became involved in educational consulting in the late seventies as an associate of Network, Inc., a national educational research and consulting firm. While there, he became project manager and then director of a federally funded study of dissemination of educational R&D. In addition, he wrote and managed a multimillion dollar career education project for the Boston Schools that received national press attention.
John has more than 15 years of successful international
consulting within the architecture, engineering,
and energy sectors. These include the operation
of a $4M executive training program for Mobil
Oil, the design and 5-year conduct of a $90M technical
training institute at Jubail for the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia, and the management of a $40M technical
assistance program in Pakistan for USAID.
During his 9 year tenure at Boston University,
John proposed and managed a large consulting contract
for the US Army of Europe and later served as
Executive Director for BU’s Center for International
Education. For 8 years, John was the Corporate
Vice-President for the International Training
and Education Company and President of Education
Management Corporation, a company jointly held
with Boston University.
In these roles, John designed and marketed training
and consulting services to foreign governments,
bilateral and multilateral funding agencies, and
private sector organizations. His specialty was
the creation of joint ventures with large engineering
firms like Bechtel, Raytheon, and Louis Berger.
At BU, John worked with the Schools of Medicine,
Management, Communications, and Education, which
focused on faculty staffing of technical assistance
contracts. One of the largest of these was funded
by the World Bank for the Government of Portugal
and involved revamping the entire career training
system for that country’s teachers. The
$7M program included the award of 160 Masters
Degrees over a 4 year period.
John then became associated with a major international
career management organization. Over a 7 year
period, he was responsible for the networking
and placement of hundreds of high-level executive
men and women all over the country. John’s
skill at training others and his operations expertise
for growth facilitated his promotion to Executive
Vice-President. In this role, he was successful
in developing 15 offices throughout the US.
John has provided leadership and successful design,
direction, and management of career development
initiatives for more than 20 years. He holds a
BA from Drew University and an MA from Tufts University.
